Box Score AMHERST, N.Y. (Sept. 22, 2013) - On Sunday, the Molloy College men's soccer squad was able to even its overall record at 3-3 with a 4-1 victory over East Coast Conference-opponent Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y. With the triumph, the Lions improve their league ledger to 2-0. Following the loss, the Wildcats fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the ECC.
Very early on in the game, Molloy found the back of the netting. Junior
Hamza Elotmani (Casablanca, Morocco) scored an unassisted goal off a block. In the 34th minute of the contest, Daemen's Alex Reid notched the equalizer with a shot to the right side of the net. Matthew Cordovani was responsible for the assist.
Right before the intermission, Molloy senior
Mario Gagliano (Manhasset, N.Y.) scored off a pass from sophomore
Ibrahima Diarra (Hollis, N.Y.) to turn the score to 2-1. That would remain as the two teams headed into halftime.
Gagliano struck again in the 69th minute with a shot into the lower right corner of the goal, off a feed from redshirt-freshman
Nyder Chardonnette (Uniondale, N.Y.). Junior
Mathias Coni (Oceanside, N.Y.) was responsible for the final Molloy goal today when he put one past Daemen's goalkeeper in the 89th minute. He scored on a header off a cross from senior
Dan Brown (Queens, N.Y.).
Between the pipes for the Lions, redshirt-junior
Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made three saves in the win, while his counterpart, Daniel Romer, made three as well for the Wildcats.
Molloy recorded more than double the amount of shots that Daemen did (24-10), while also holding the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.
