Men's Soccer Drops Heartbreaker Versus Dominican in Double Overtime, 1-0

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2013) - On Monday night, the Molloy College men's soccer team was knotted at 0-0 with Dominican (N.Y.) College with a little under five minutes remaining in the second overtime period. Nearing a draw, Lions' senior back Steven Reyes (Astoria, N.Y.) tried to clear the ball out of Molloy's defensive zone when the ball hit off Lukas Nordin's chest and dropped in front of him. The Chargers' Nordin then proceeded to chip the ball over Molloy senior goalkeeper Mario Gagliano (Manhasset, N.Y.) to give Dominican the 1-0 victory.

With the win, the Chargers improved to 3-2 overall, while the Lions fell to 1-3 on the season.

Molloy had a handful of opportunities to score earlier in the game, but wasn't able to find the right footing on the shot. Junior Joey Pinto (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and senior Jovani Ramos (Valley Stream, N.Y.) recorded two shots on goal each. In net, Gagliano made four saves.

For the Chargers, goalie Andres Ruiz stopped six shots for the win between the pipes.

The two teams had an even 15 shots each in this contest, while Molloy held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.

Head Coach Danny Longo and his team returns to action on Friday when the Lions open up East Coast Conference-play at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.  The league showdown begins at 7:00 p.m.
