Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Sept. 11, 2013) - The first two matches might not have gone the Lions' way, but the latest three have. On Wednesday evening, the Molloy College women's volleyball team downed Felician College, 3-1, to win its third consecutive match and improve to 3-2 overall. The Golden Falcons fell to 0-1 on the young season.
Junior
Sam Berna (Massapequa, N.Y.) had a tremendous match as she smashed down 16 kills and scooped up 14 digs. Sophomore
Cassie Palmer (Norwalk, Calif.) contributed 13 kills, while freshman
Alley Stefanovski (North Chili, N.Y.) and junior
Kerry MacDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) combined for a massive 50 assists. Stefanovski and Palmer were also on the good end of four service aces this match.
Molloy jumped out to a large lead in the first set. At one point, the Lions led 14-5. Down 24-17, the Golden Falcons rattled off six straight points to come within one point of tying the score. Fortunately, an attacking error from Felician sealed the first set-win for Molloy.
The second set was a tight back-and-forth sparring that never saw a team lead by more than two points. The Golden Falcons were able to grab the second set, 25-23. The third set was kinder to the Lions as they won handily, 25-18. The fourth set was close like the second, but Molloy was able to pull out the 25-21 victory to take the match.
