Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2013) - On Tuesday evening, the Molloy College women's volleyball squad hosted East Coast Conference-opponent the University of Bridgeport -- the team that tops the league with a ledger of 10-1 against conference foes and 14-2 overall. Although it was a 3-0 sweep in favor of the Purple Knights, there were definitely some positives to take out of this match as the Lions played their guests very tough in sets number one and two. The set scores were: 25-18, 25-17, and 25-13.
With the victory, Bridgeport improved to 15-2 on the year and 11-1 in the conference, while the Lions dropped to 9-16 overall and 3-9 in the ECC.
The Lions were close throughout the opening two sets, trailing mostly by a few points. Down 20-17 in the first set, Bridgeport was able to reel off a 5-1 run to seal the set victory. Despite the Purple Knights jumping out to a 10-3 lead in the middle set, the Lions powered through and were able to get the score to 15-14 in favor of their guests. Once again, Bridgeport put together a 5-2 burst to end the set, however, as indicated with the score being close late, Molloy stuck around well into this match.

Sam Berna (Massapequa, N.Y.) had eight kills, while junior
Shannon Appel (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) compiled seven. In the assists column, freshman
Alley Stefanovski (North Chili, N.Y.) racked up 22, while rookie libero
Lauren Williams (Lake Grove, N.Y.) scooped up nine digs. Fellow newcomer
Spencer Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) had four blocks.
