Men's Soccer Edged by Philadelphia University, 3-2 in Double Overtime

Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 2, 2013) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College men's soccer team fell to non-conference opponent Philadelphia University, 3-2 in double overtime at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y.  With the win, the Rams improved to 10-7-1 overall, while the Lions dropped to 5-9-3 in their season finale.

In the fifth minute of the game, Patrick Groh scored the contest's first goal for the Rams. Molloy senior Jovani Ramos (Valley Stream, N.Y.) would answer back 17 minutes later when he rocketed a shot from 35 yards out. The ball went off the fingertips of the leaping Philadelphia netminder Thomas Attamante and into the back of the netting.

The Lions would get another goal, right before halftime hit. In the 44th minute, senior Anthony Morais (Mineola, N.Y.) converted on a penalty kick to give Molloy a 2-1 lead.

After the intermission, the Rams' Dominic Rodriguez scored in the 70th minute to even the game at 2-2. It was not until the second overtime period that the game would see its fifth and final marker. It came off the foot of Rodriguez once again. Armanda Canela had the assist for this goal, which came in the 103rd minute.

For Molloy, senior Mario Gagliano (Manhasset, N.Y.) wasn't tested between the pipes, while sophomore Ryan Fackner (North Babylon, N.Y.) had three saves in his goalkeeper debut.
