Kelly Sacco (Thompson) joined the Molloy athletic department in August 2016 and was appointed Director of Athletic Communications in November 2016, Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications in August of 2019, and Associate Director of Athletics for Communications in December 2024.
In her role, Sacco oversees the promotional efforts for Molloy’s 18 NCAA sports as well as seven club programs, including media placements, creative multimedia content, and social media management. She is also responsible for the upkeep of the department's website, which saw a redesign effort completed in 2017, as well as the maintenance of record books. Day to day, she also oversees the game day communications efforts including serving as the official scorer at home contests, producing live statistics and and coordinating video streams.
Sacco supervises one full-time assistant, a graduate assistant, and several academic interns who are assigned throughout the year to assist in the communications department, insuring their growth and development. Sacco herself served previously as an intern in the Athletic Communications office, assisting in game day communications efforts for winter and spring sports.
Prior to Molloy, she served as both a student worker and a graduate assistant in the Office of Media Relations at St. John’s University while obtaining her undergraduate and graduate degrees. In these roles, she was responsible for creating and distributing press releases about the University, pitching members of the faculty to local, national, and international media, and the curating of the department's annual Media Impact Report.
She also spent time as an intern with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the New York Islanders.
Sacco earned a bachelor's degree in public relations in 2014 and a master's of business administration in marking management in 2016 from St. John's University.
Currently, Sacco is a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC), and was one of the inaugural recipients of the NCAA Inclusion CoSIDA Convention Grant in 2017, created for the professional development of minorities in the athletic communications field.
In her spare time, Sacco volunteers and serves on the cable committee of Four Village Studio in her native Stewart Manor, N.Y.
