Glenn Nathan

Glenn Nathan was named the head coach of the women's tennis team ahead of the 2022 season. 

Nathan joins the Lions after spending five seasons at the helm of the women's tennis program at Suffolk Country Community College. He made immediate impact, guiding the Sharks to the Regional finals in 2018 before winning the region and finishing as the national runner-up in 2021. As individuals, Nathan's student-athletes earned the NJCAA National Championship in first doubles and second singles.

Prior to Suffolk, Nathan led the St. Joseph's College (Long Island) men's and women's tennis team for 16 years from 2003-2018. In that time, he amassed a combined record of 221-172, including 126 wins on the women's side. His teams combined for three Skyline Conference Championships and qualified for four NCAA Tournaments. Nathan was named the Coach of the Year on five different occasions in addition to winning two awards for sportsmanship. 

Nathan has also coached for both SUNY Old Westbury and Southampton College.

A staple in the local tennis community, Nathan has been a tennis pro as well as board and staff member at the Bayport Blue Point Community Tennis Association, an assistant tennis pro at the Miller Place Racquet Club, and associate instructor for Adelphi's tennis programs, the head junior development summer program pro at Casino Country Club in Garden City, and an assistant tennis pro at the Old Westbury Country Club. 

In 2014, Nathan was awarded the Charles Karp Award from the United States Tennis Association, given to an individual who for overcoming adversity after a nearly life-long battle against kidney failure. While playing tennis at Suffolk Community College, Nathan was given the devastating news that his kidneys were failing and would be starting home dialysis. Through an inspiring effort, Nathan would return to the tennis courts as a walk-on at Adelphi University, actively playing as a Division II student-athlete while undergoing dialysis. He has since underwent three kidney transplants, including receiving one from his father, the most recent of which occurred in 2012. His journey has led him to volunteer with a number of organizations dedicated to fighting kidney disease including the American Association of Kidney Patients and the End Stage Renal Disease Network of New York and New Jersey.

Off the court, he works full-time as a territory sales representative for Brockway/Smith Company. He lives in Shirley with his wife Denise and is the proud father of three daughters, Alyssa, Lindsay, and Courtney.
