John Petrucelli is arguably the most lauded player in the history of Molloy's basketball program. To date, he remains the program's all-time scoring leader by a distant margin and is the only player in the program's history to top 2000 points.
Petrucelli earned three All-ECC First Team selections, including being named the league's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Player of the Year as a senior. He was also recognized by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association as a First Team All-Region selection and is the only player to receive the Player of the Year award from the MBWA in the program's history. Petrucelli added two additional All-Region selections by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Daktronics. He was also awarded the NCAA Statistical Champion in steals per game as a senior.
He tops Molloy's record books in points, made field goals (681), made free throws (582) and steals (353), while ranking in the top-five in points per game (18.0), steals per game (3.2), rebounds (804), rebounds per game (7.2), and assists (346). Petrucelli is also the single-season leader in points (692), points per game (23.1), made field goals (243), and made free throws (181).
Upon graduation, Petrucelli played in Slovakia before becoming the program's first player to be signed to the G-League, the developmental league of the NBA and is still competing professionally today. He most recently signed to compete in the Israeli Premier League.
