Susan Cassidy-Lyke '86

Softball & Women's Basketball
Inducted: June 16, 1997


5727Susan Cassidy-Lyke had the distinguished honor of being inducted into the Molloy College Athletic Hall of Fame on June 16, 1997. A graduate from the class of 1986, she was a two-sport student-athlete during her playing days in Rockville Centre competing for both the softball and women's basketball teams. Cassidy-Lyke graduated from Molloy Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and a minor in Mathematics.
 
On the softball diamond, she hit over .400 in both 1985 (.462) and 1986 (.406). In 1985, the shortstop belted five doubles, two triples, a homer and drove in 23 RBIs. She was also 12-15 in stolen base attempts. Her batting average in her senior season was amongst the best in the NCAA Division II.
 
A success both on the diamond and in the classroom, Cassidy-Lyke was named a CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team honoree in both 1985 and 1986. She was awarded with the GTE Academic All-American selection her senior campaign.
 
On the basketball hardwood, she averaged 6.7 points per game, shooting 34% from the floor, during the 1984-85 campaign. The guard from Hicksville averaged close to four points per contest the following season.

Following her tenure as a Molloy student-athlete, Cassidy-Lyke went on to enjoy an illustrious 20-year career with the New York Police Department, reaching the rank of captain. Following her retirement from the NYPD, she was hired as the Director of Athletics at Molloy in 2006. Since that time, she has also held the position of Head Softball Coach. 

She resides in Hicksville, N.Y. with her husband, John, son, Jack, and dog, TJ.
