Beverly Hubbard, a native of Wyandanch, began her standout basketball career at Wyandanch High School. Beverly was a four year starter at Molloy and one of the top female athletes in the schools history. She was a prolific small forward who could rebound and score. Beverly was often described as being silky smooth on the court. She graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Among Beverly’s achievements are the Molloy College all-time records: second in career field goals (574), fifth in career points (1455), fifth in career rebounds (792), sixth in career scoring average (13.3 ppg), sixth in free throws made (111 in 1988-89), sixth and tenth in field goals made (394 in 1988-89 and 365 in 1986-87), seventh in points 9447 in 1988-89) and eight in field goal percentage (.447 in 1986-87). Beverly was named a Second Team All-Empire State Conference player in 1988-89 and was among the top ten in the conference in both scoring and rebounding in 1987-88 and 1988-89.
Upon graduation, Beverly began her teaching career at IS 218 in East New York as a physical education and health teacher. After nine years, she was elevated to the position of Dean of Discipline. Beverly completed her master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Brooklyn College in 2003.
Beverly passed away in the Spring of 2013. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Michael and their 11 year old son, Michael.
