Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team and the Pace University Setters tangled in a tightknit contest Wednesday afternoon, but in the end the Lions would fall, 1-0, at John A. Darcy Field. The cardinal and white move to 3-5-1 on the campaign, while the Setters improve to 6-2.

How it Happened

• In the opening 10 minutes, Pace was able to generate two shots, but neither would hit target.
• Molloy's first chance of the afternoon came in the 17^th minute, after junior Meghan Wetzel took a free kick from inside of mid-field, connected with junior Jana Strait, but Strait's header attempt would go high of the crossbar.
• The game would settle into a possession battle through the next 10 minutes, where the cardinal and white would come within a foot of scoring. After misplayed free kick from the Pace goalkeeper, junior Bella Juliano fired a shot that went just wide of the far post.
• The Setters generated two consecutive chances one minute apart between the 37^th and 38^th minute, but senior goalkeeper Elyse Muñoz would make two saves to keep the game scoreless.
• Strait would challenge with one last shot of the first half in the 41^st minute, but her shot was saved as the contest would head to halftime scoreless.
• 3:47 into the second half, the road team put together a shot on target after a through ball into the 18-yard box, but Muñoz was there to make a chest high save.
• The 58^th minute saw junior Giuliana Arrigo come up with a scoring chance after Strait found her down the right side, but Arrigo's shot would be wide of target.
• Three minutes later, Pace was awarded a penalty kick after a foul inside the 18-yard box by the Lions. Madison Pieloch of the Setters stepped to the penalty spot and snuck her shot just past Muñoz inside the left post to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
• The cardinal and white nearly found the equalizer in the 69^th minute following a pair of chances within 30 seconds. Strait found junior Emily Scali inside the 18 with her shot being saved before freshman Ysabelle Perillo saw a chance just outside the six-yard box hit off the crossbar.
• Three minutes later, senior Madison Keenan connected on a header following a free kick, but once again a save would be made by McCree.
• In the 78^th minute, Perillo would opened her right foot for a shot that was saved before sophomore Amanda Martin had her shot cleared off the goal line four seconds later, keeping  the Lions off the scoreboard.
• Molloy's final chance came with 2:35 remaining when Perillo would give it one more go, but McCree would make the games final save to clinch a 1-0 triumph for the Setters.

Top Performances

• Perillo topped the squad with three shots and two shots on goal.
• Strait totaled three shots and one shot on goal.
• In goal, Muñoz made four saves.
