Women's Lacrosse Concludes 2026 Against Roberts Wesleyan

Rockville Centre, N.Y.-  The women's lacrosse team closed out the 2026 season with a 13-5 loss to Roberts Wesleyan this afternoon. The Lions end the campaign 5-11 (2-4 ECC), and the Redhawks improve to 6-8 (5-1 ECC).

How it Happened

  • Ella Dossier capitalized on a man-up opportunity, scoring just two minutes into the game for the Redhawks.
  • Freshman Peyton Naus evened the score at one with a free position goal.
  • Lia MacDougall beat junior goaltender Samantha Heuer to regain the lead before Erica Savage and Kadie Tierney each scored, extending the lead to 4-1.
  • The Redhawks closed out the first quarter with an extra-man goal from Hannah Sparks.
  • Heuer opened the second quarter with a key save on an early free position attempt to keep the deficit at four.
  • Sophomore Ava Benasutti connected with freshman Sam Cossaro to cut the score to 5-2.
  • Roberts Wesleyan maintained possession for the next two minutes, but Heuer made three consecutive saves, including one while down a player.
  • Freshman defender Avery Adamski scored on a free position shot, and fellow freshman Jenna Italiano followed with a free position goal of her own five minutes later, making it a one-goal game heading into the half.
  • The Lions defense held strong through the second, keeping the Redhawks scoreless in the frame.
  •  MacDougall opened the third quarter with back-to-back goals, giving the visitors a 7-4 lead.
  • Alison Dioguardi doubled the Redhawks' lead during a two-man advantage with under four minutes remaining in the quarter.
  • Tierney recorded her second goal of the game with just nine seconds left in the third, sending Roberts Wesleyan into the final quarter ahead 9-4.
  • The Redhawks then extended the lead to 11-4 early in the fourth before Naus scored her second goal of the contest during a man-down situation with nine minutes remaining.
  • Macdougall would cap the scoring with two more goals on the afternoon to close out a 13-5 win for the visiting Redhawks.

  • Naus scored two goals, while Adamski, Cossaro, and Italiano each added one.
  • Benasutti and sophomore Ryleigh Zamora each dished out an assist.
  • Zamora controlled six draws, collected five ground balls, and caused one turnover.
