Baseball Wraps Up Boca Raton Weekend Against Bentley

Boca Raton, Fla. – The Molloy baseball team concluded its weekend in Florida Monday afternoon falling to the Bentley Falcons, 12-4, at Lynn University. The Lions move to 5-5 on the campaign, while the Falcons improve to 7-4.

How it Happened
  • Bentley got to work early, plating two runs in the bottom of the first off a sacrifice fly and run scoring double to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Lions bats were held in check through four innings as Bentley starter Ryan Glupe retired the first 12 straight Lions he faced.
  • The Falcons increased their lead, 4-0, in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runners crossing the plate on two RBI singles.
  • After sophomore Steve Mulqueen singled to begin the fifth, senior Sean Serrano brought him home with a single to put the Lions on the board, 4-1.
  • Bentley responded in the bottom of the frame, connecting for two solo home runs to add to its lead, 6-1.
  • The Falcons used a four-run sixth and a two-run seventh to break the game open, 12-1, after seven innings.
  • The cardinal and white tallied three runs in the final two innings with a run scoring following an error and a pair of RBI singles from junior Brian Sanchez and Mulqueen as the contest would end, 12-4.
Top Performances
  • Mulqueen led the offense with two hits while driving in one.
  • Sanchez and Serrano collected hit and an RBI each.
  • The contest saw freshman Isiah Marino collect his first career hit in his collegiate debut.
  • The game also featured Molloy debuts from sophomores Matt Nowlan and Ryan Zegers
