#12 Men's Lacrosse Tops Bridgeport

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The #12 men's lacrosse team picked up its third-straight victory with an 18-2 victory over the University of Bridgeport this afternoon from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. The win sets Molloy at 3-1 on the season while UB fell to 1-2 with the loss.

How it Happened
  • The offensive efforts belonged entirely to the Lions for the first 51 minutes of the game, keeping the Purple Knights off the board.
  • After 15 minutes, Molloy led 4-0 with goals from seniors Jake Taylor and Brian Green, junior Owen Taylor, and sophomore Luke Barrera. 
  • The lead would more than double by the end of the first half with goals from Barrera, seniors Justin Palulis and Nick Taiani, freshman Jaden Simick, and two from graduate student Zach Kroog. 
  • Five more goals followed in the third frame from the sticks of Green, redshirt senior Noah Hammon, graduate student Timothy Morrow, and freshman Kevin Renneisen. 
  • Senior goalie John Basile made seven saves through nearly 49 minutes of action and added a caused turnover and ground ball. 
  • The Purple Knights broke through in the fourth quarter with two goals but Morrow, Simick, and Kroog all found the back of the net to round out Molloy's scoring.
Top Performances
  • Taylor (one goal, four assists) and Kroog (three goals, two assist) both led with five points. 
  • Green (three goals), Morrow (two goals, one assist), and Hammon (one goal, two assists) each tallied three points.
  • A goal and an assist from Palulis paired with two goals from Simick and Barrera followed with two points. 
  • Taiani, O. Taylor, and Renneisen added goals with senior Tommy Corcoron and sophomore Sean Payton each picking up assists.
  • Sophomore Liam Taylor led the team with five ground balls followed by four each from both seniors Brandon Pazienza and Eric Schiller. Schiller's three caused turnovers led the Lions. 
  • Sophomore James Demokopoulous made four saves in relief followed by two from freshman Adam Heske.

The Lions are back in action on Saturday (Mar. 7) against third-ranked St. Anselm College at 12:00 p.m from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex.
