Hampton, Va. – The Molloy baseball team kicked off the 2026 campaign at the Peninsula Pilot Invitational Friday afternoon, falling to the Marauders of Millersville, 2-1, at War Memorial Stadium.
How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, Millersville saw two runs cross the plate in the bottom of the second following a single up the middle to give them a 2-0 lead.
- The third and fourth innings saw the two squads yield just one combined base runner as junior James Sill and Millersville starter Alex Kuehn went pitch for pitch.
- The Lions began the top of the fifth with a pair of base runners after juniors Charlie Imhof and Brian Sanchez reached base following a hit by pitch.
- The Lions saw its run cross the plate after Mike Sweeney reached on a fielders choice, Imhof came around to score following a fielding error to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
- The Marauders looked to add to their lead in the bottom of the sixth with two runners on with two outs, but redshirt senior Sean Mileti induced an inning ending flyout to get out of the jam.
- The cardinal and white would have a chance to tie the game in the eighth after Sweeney reached following a leadoff walk. Millersville would escape the speedy threat at first, inducing a caught stealing and a strikeout to keep the Lions off the board and finish off the victory, 2-1.

- Sill tossed four innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out four.
- Mileti pitched the final four innings of hitless baseball and punching out six.
- The Molloy pitching staff allowed just three base runners after the second inning.
