Flushing, N.Y. – 90 minutes wasn't enough to find a winner Saturday evening, as the Molloy women's soccer team and the Queens College Knights played to a 1-1 draw at Knights field. The Lions sit at 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in East Coast Conference play, while the Knights move to 7-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in league play.
How it Happened
- The opening 15 minutes of play were dominated by defense and possession as neither side could muster a shot.
- Molloy struck first in the 17th minute. After a free-kick was sent into the 18-yard box, junior Gabrielle Justiniano corralled a loose ball and fired it into the back of the net to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
- Queens recorded its first shot attempt of the evening in the 21st minute when Jenna Rosenberger's attempt was blocked by the Lions's defense.
- The Knights next chance in the first half came in the 26th when Ashley Kieblesz dialed up a shot, but her attempt was sent wide.
- The contest returned to a defensive grind on both sides, with the Lions generating one shot over the next 10 minutes.
- The final attempt of the opening 45 came from senior Isabella Muro in the 42nd minute, with her shot being saved by Queens goalkeeper Samantha Hines-Hirsch, sending the contest into halftime with Molloy ahead, 1-0.
- The home team looked to jump out to a quick start in the second half, as Kieblesz generated a scoring chance 1:30 into the stanza, but her shot sailed high.
- Senior goalkeeper Elyse Muñoz was challenged for the first time in the 57th minute, making a save following a shot from Rosenberger.
- The Knights offense continued to pressure the cardinal and white in the 63rd minute when Ana Impellizzeri blistered a shot that was saved by Muñoz.
- Queens found the equalizer in the 65th minute after Kieblesz found Anna Tavantzis to knot the contest at one.

- The cardinal and white continued to keep the Knights defense on their heels in the 76th minute when junior Meghan Wetzel ripped a shot that forced a save.
- The final chance came from the home team in the 87th minute. Ava Lekanides created space to set up a shot, but Muñoz made the save, ending the contest in a 1-1 draw.
