Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's basketball game hung close with the 23rd-ranked team in the nation in Daemen University this afternoon from Bob Houlihan Court, but ultimately fell 73-60. In the process, four members of the cardinal and white reached double digit scoring totals to go with two double-doubles. The loss sets Molloy at 5-12 on the season and an even 3-3 in East Coast Conference play. Daemen remains undefeated (8-0) in league play and sits at 15-2 on the season.
How it Happened
- Senior Rosa Rizzitelli would net the first five points for the Lions, putting them ahead 5-2 after two minutes.
- Daemen responded with the next eight points to lead 10-5, but back-to-back three-pointers from senior Sophia Yearwood and freshman Monique Echols regain the lead for Molloy, 11-10.
- The lead would change hands three more times in the opening quarter, including four-straight points from freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo to knot the score at 17 headed into the final minute of the frame.Â
- Daemen's Claire Pikett would sink two foul shots to give the visitors the edge after 10 minutes of play.
- The score would be tied three times in the second quarter, including 29-29 in the final 90 seconds of the half. The Wildcats would end the half on a 7-2 run to lead 36-31 at the break.
- Molloy would continue to chase Daemen for the majority of the third quarter, outscoring them 19-18 and coming within one three times before another trey from Echols reclaimed the lead for the home squad.Â

- Senior Colleen McCullagh led the Lions with 16 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor, and added four rebounds.
- Ugbogbo led with 16 rebounds, adding 12 points for a double-double to go with a career-high five blocks.Â
- Rizzitelli also netted 12 points and added five assists, five boards, and two steals.
- Yearwood also had a double-double with 11 points and a career-best 10 assists, adding six rebounds and a block.
- Echol's nine points was also a career high for the rookie, who added two steals.
- Sophomore Jamie Davneiro dished out four assists to go with a block and a steal.
