Softball Concludes 2025 in Second Day of ECC Tournament

Sparkill, N.Y.- The 2025 softball season concluded this afternoon as the third-seeded Lions fell to the fourth-seeded Saints of D'Youville, 4-3, in an elimination game in the East Coast Conference Tournament. Molloy ends the campaign with a 19-31 record.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore pitcher Stevie Dabbadie allowed just one walk in the bottom of the first inning, then retired the next six batters across the second and third frames.
  • The Lions nearly broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth. Junior Mae Savage reached on a fielding error to lead off the inning, and junior Emily McGurk advanced her to second with a sacrifice bunt. Senior Cheralyn Dusharme followed with a single through the left side and moved up to second on the throw home. However, Savage was tagged out at the plate by D'Youville catcher Annie Jorgenson, ending the threat.
  • Dabbadie's momentum continued in the bottom of the fifth, inducing a ground out and a pop up before striking out her second batter of the game.
  • In the top of the sixth, Dabbadie helped her own cause with a single up the middle. Freshman Madeline Millman laid down a sacrifice bunt, and freshman Megan Wegel followed with a single through the right side, putting Dabbadie 60 feet away from home. D'Youville pitcher Summer Clark was able to work out of the jam, inducing back-to-back ground outs.
  • D'Youville threatened in the bottom of the sixth, putting two runners on with one out. However, a fly ball to redshirt freshman Alexis Montgomery in left field resulted in a double play when she fired to Savage at second base to double off the runner and end the inning.
  • Savage led off the top of the seventh with a walk, and was moved into scoring position by another sacrifice bunt from McGurk.
  • Senior Natalie Moussa then delivered with a double to left field, driving in the game's first run. Dusharme followed with a single, and Dabbadie grounded out to second base to score Moussa and push Dusharme into scoring position.
  • Millman came through with a single down the right field line to bring home sophomore pinch runner Madison Gangi, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead.
  • The Saints mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with no outs on two singles and a walk. Consecutive singles from Hailee Jenkins and Sophia Arno brought the Saints within one. A fielder's choice followed by a single by Gianna Adamo tied the game
  • Jorgenson then singled to right field, driving in the winning run and completing the Saints' comeback for a 4-3 walk-off victory.
