Women's Basketball Drops Final Game of 2025

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's basketball team closed out the 2025 portion of the season with a 73-47 loss to Southern New Hampshire University. The Lions sit at 3-11 on the season while SNHU improves to 5-4.

How it Happened
  • The Lions won the opening tip with senior Colleen McCullagh going right to the hoop for a fastbreak layup to start the contest.
  • A made foul shot from sophomore Jamie Davneiro added a third points for Molloy, but the Penmen would take an 11-3 lead midway through the first quarter.
  • Davneiro and McCullagh combined for five more points for the rest of the quarter, which ended with Molloy trailing 22-8.
  • SNHU's lead would increase to as much as 25 in the first half, 40-15, before taking a 49-26 advantage into the locker room for the break.
  • Freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo accounted for seven points in the third quarter with senior Sophia Yearwood added three, but Molloy still trailed, 67-36, after 45 minute of game time.
  • The Lions would score the final four points of the contest on a layup from Davneiro and one foul shot each from both sophomore Jianna Davneiro and freshman Kaitlyn Paulino Rosario. 
Top Performances
  • Rizzitelli led the Lions with 15 points, going 6-of-12 from the field, and added six rebounds.
  • Ugbogbo added eight boards, two blocks, and a team-leading three steals to her seven points. 
  • Yearwood, Jamie Davneiro, and Paulino Rosario each netted six points.
  • McCullagh led with 11 rebounds and four assists to go with two blocks.

The Lions will transition to conference play for much of the remainder of the season beginning with a home game against Queens College on Saturday, January 10 at 12:00 p.m.
