Stony Brook, N.Y. - The women's basketball team opened the 2025 season with an exhibition contest at Stony Brook, dropping a 91-59 decision in a non-countable game.

How it Happened

• The Lions hung with the Seawolves in the first quarter, even leading after back-to-back three-pointers from senior Rosa Rizzitelli and sophomore Iris Hoffman. After 10 minutes of play, Molloy trailed 19-12.
• The visitors shot effectively in the second frame, going 6-of-10 from the field, but struggled defensively and allowed Stony Brook 34 points to make it 53-27 at the halftime break.
• The Lions were unable to dig themselves out of the halftime deficit, but shot a combined 51.6% from the floor in the second half.

Top Performances

• Senior Colleen McCullagh led with 17 points, shooting 7-of-11, and also led with seven rebounds and two blocks.
• Rizzitelli followed with 13 points to go with five rebounds and four assists.
• Hoffman rounded out the top scorers with 12 points and dished out a career-high nine assists.
