Hackensack, N.J. – The Molloy women's bowling team earned bronze at the Golden Bear Invite hosted by Kutztown University from Saturday, November 1 through Sunday, November 2. Through four traditional matches and five baker matches, and three bracket style baker matches the Lions went 7-2 on the weekend while collected 8,888 pins to average 174.3
Day One – Traditional Format
- The cardinal and white came into Saturday red hot collecting victories in its first three matches, beginning with a 801-664 triumph over Chestnut Hill.
- In the second match, Molloy took down Wilmington, 866-784. Freshman Ava Mazella was a standout in the contest, rolling a high game of 214 to lead the squad.
- Mazella continued to find the pocket well in the third match as the keglers topped Holy Family, 852-792, where she led the team once again with a 202 high game.
- The streak was snapped at three, as Molloy would tangle with Caldwell and come up short, 957-910. Junior Kaitlyn Warren paved the way with a 211 game, to help Molloy finish day one 3-1.
Day Two – Baker Format
- Saturday afternoon baker play started off with Molloy falling to Coppin State, 922-875.
- The Lions would rally off three straight wins to end qualifying Sunday, taking down Dominican, 936-891, Alvernia, 861-847, LIU, 921-884, and Adelphi, 901-859.
- After falling behind 49 pins in game one against the Chargers, Molloy used a 40-pin victory in game two and followed with a 79 pin triumph in game three to come from behind to take the match.
- In a tight knit matchup with Alvernia, the keglers edged out a two-pin and three-pin victories in games four and five to secure the match victory.
- The cardinal and white would meet Adelphi in a best-of-seven baker match in bracket play to conclude Sunday. The Lions would jump out to a quick 3-1 lead and go on to defeat the panthers, 4-2, to clinch a third place finish.
