Colchester, Vt.- The Lions were defeated 3-0 in a conference match against Saint Michael's College this morning. The Lions now fall to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in NE10 play, while the Purple Knights earned its first win of the season, improving to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
How it Happened
- The Lions faced early pressure from Saint Michael's offense, defending a corner within the first 45 seconds of play.
- Saint Michael's struck first in the second quarter with a cross from the right side, finished by Anna Comiskey and assisted by Bridgie Loughlin.
- The cardinal and white came close to scoring on back-to-back corners late in the third quarter but were unable to capitalize.
- Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Balsamo made an initial save on Loughlin's shot, but Loughlin quickly followed up, doubling the lead just four seconds later.
- Grace Nigolian scored with just over two minutes left in the game to close out the scoring 3-0 in favor of the home team.
