Fourth-Seeded Women's Lacrosse Downed at RV Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - The fourth-seeded women's lacrosse team fell to the top-seeded Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks, 14-10 in the East Coast Conference semifinal. Molloy ends the 2024 campaign with a record of 8-8 while Roberts Wesleyan advances to the Conference Championship on Sunday (May 5) with a 12-5 record. 

How it Happened
  • The home team started off the scoring just four minutes into the contest, but junior Alexa Amorison quickly responded, tying the contest two minutes later.
  • RWU closed the first quarter with four-straight to lead 6-1 after 15 minutes. 
  • Back-to-back goals from senior Erin Murphy and a second tally from Amorison brought the Lions back within two with 11:30 left in the first half.
  • Roberts Wesleyan closed out the first half scoring with three goals, leading 9-4 at the break.
  • Freshman Victoria Bustamante opened the third quarter with an unassisted goal before Amorison netted her third of the contest to keep the Lions in striking distance.
  • A four-goal stretch for the Redhawks increased the advantage to seven goals, but Bustamante and junior Brenna Signorelli closed out the third quarter with back-to-back goals.
  • Signorelli and Amorison each found the back of the net in the fourth quarter, bringing Molloy with four, but the Redhawks would maintain the advantage to earn the win.
Top Performances
  • Amorison led with six points on four goals and two assists.
  • Bustamante had three points with two goals and a helper.
  • Signorelli and Murphy each found the back of the net twice with junior Sofia Quitoni adding an assist.
  • Signorelli and juniors Isabella Klemm and Carly Howell each picked up two ground balls. 
  • Signorelli, Busatamante, seniors Joanna Mauceri and Jessica Kofod, and junior Reilly Brady each forced a turnover.
  • Mauceri and Brady both controlled three draws.
  • Senior goalie Mary-Kate Sweeney made seven saves.
