Women’s Bowling Season Concludes at ECC Championship

Rochester, N.Y. – The Molloy women's bowling team battled for the ECC Championship this weekend hosting by Roberts Wesleyan University at AMF Dewey Garden Lanes. After two days of competition, the Lions were eliminated and placed fifth.
 
Day One
  • Friday began the opening of pool play, where the keglers would bowl five qualifying matches to determine the seeding in bracket format.
  • The day started with the Lions falling to the host Redhawks, 856-799, in match one.
  • Molloy would not look back from there, as they rallied for four straight victories shooting no lower than 900 as a team.
  • The cardinal and white took down Mercyhurst (946-857), St. Thomas Aquinas (932-665), D'Youville (917-832), and capped the opening day with a 1,031-960 victory over Bryant.
  • Molloy's finished day one 4-1 totaling 4,625 pins to average 185.0 to qualify second for the remainder of the Championship.
Day Two
  • Saturday, the competition would shift to double elimination format, as all the teams were set for a best-of-seven baker format for the right to earn a spot in the championship match on Sunday.
  • The keglers kicked off the day with a 4-0 sweep of Adelphi to position themselves against Mercyhurst in the next match.
  • Against the Lakers, the Lions would battle, but eventually would fall, 4-2, moving them to the elimination bracket to take on Bryant in a win and move on match.
  • The Lions would fall to the Bulldogs, 4-0, and would end its run at the ECC crown.
