Flushing, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team picked up its third straight win Sunday afternoon, taking down the Golden Falcons of Felician, 69-51, Sunday afternoon at the Knights Thanksgiving Invitational hosted by Queens College. The Lions sit at 5-3 on the season, while the Golden Falcons move to 4-5.
How it Happened
- The Lions began the first 2:06 on an 8-2 run, making four of its first five field goals.
- Over the next 1:16 of action, Felician put together a mini 6-0 run to knot the contest at eight.
- The cardinal and white would take control of the opening stanza over the next four minutes, rallying to a 12-0 run led by junior Casey Campo who netted six points to push Molloy ahead, 20-8.
- The two squads would trade field goals for the remainder of the half with the Lions taking a 12-point advantage into the second quarter, 28-16.
- The Lions started the second half on a 7-0 rally that ran through midway the second quarter, opening its lead to 19, 35-16.
- Molloy would garner four points for the remainder of the first half and would stay in front, 39-23, heading into halftime.
- The Golden Falcons cut the deficit to 10, 39-29, rallying to a 6-0 run to start the third quarter.
- Felican would keep the Lions within 10 for the remainder of the third quarter and hit a jumper with time expiring to shrink the lead to eight, 51-43, going into the fourth quarter.
- The cardinal and white reestablished its double-figure lead 1:47 into the final stanza. A layup from junior Colleen McCullagh and a three-point field goal from junior Sophia Yearwood opened the lead to 13, 56-43.
