Seaford, N.Y.- The field hockey team wrapped up its 2024 season with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the University of New Haven this afternoon at Cedar Creek Park. The defeat leaves the Lions with a final record of 3-14 (2-11 NE10), while the Chargers finish at 8-10 (7-6 NE10).

How it Happened
- Sophomore Kayla Lipscomb started in goal and recorded two saves in the opening quarter.
- Harkins nearly put the Lions on the board early in the second quarter with a penalty stroke, but her shot deflected off the post.
- The Lions had two corner opportunities a minute apart, with Harkins managing a shot on net that was saved by the Chargers' goalkeeper Cara Lambert.
- Sophomore goalie Kayla Balsamo made four saves in the third quarter to keep the Chargers scoreless.
- Junior Gianna Mastrocco had a chance to give the Lions the lead in the third frame but was denied by Lambert.
- New Haven's Johannah Lee scored the game's only goal in the 53rd minute of play, assisted by Kat Trammel.
- Balsamo added one more save in the final minute to keep the deficit at one.
