Buffalo, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball fell to the Saints of D'Youville University, 60-51, Sunday afternoon at College Center Gym. The Lions move to 8-10 overall and 3-5 in East Coast Conference play, while the Saints improve to 7-12 overall and 5-3 in league play.
 
How it Happened
	- The Saints started the first 2:47 on a 7-2 run, but back-to-back three-point field goals from juniors Janel Moore and Samantha Muller pushed Molloy in front, 8-7, with six minutes left in the quarter.
- The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter, but junior Danielle Hippner netted a layup to knot the contest at 15 heading into the second.
- The squads continued to go back and forth in the second stanza, but the home team opened a four-point lead, 23-19, with over five minutes to play in the first half.
- Graduate student Isabel Sanchez shrunk the deficit to one, 23-22, hitting a three-point shot midway through the second quarter.
- D'Youville continued to stay in front over the next four minutes of action, extending its lead to five, 29-24, with a minute remaining in the first half.
- Hippner drained another bucket in the final minute of the stanza to cut the deficit to three, 31-28, heading into halftime.
- The Lions came out of the locker room red hot, shooting 83 percent from the field and hitting one three to take a one-point lead, 39-38, with under seven minutes to play in the third stanza.
- Back and forth action continued over the next four minutes of play with D'Youville reclaiming the advantage, 43-42, with 3:51 remaining in the quarter.
- The home team extended its lead to six, 49-43, with 1:01 to go, and sophomore Brianna James converted a layup as time expired to keep the Lions within four, 49-45, to send the game into the fourth.
- The home team opened the final stanza with a three-point shot, but sophomore Casey Campo responded with a layup to keep the Lions within five, 52-47, with under nine minutes to play.
- Defense was the name of the game for the next six minutes of action, as neither team could convert from the field.
- The Saints would go up by as much as nine in the nine in the final 2:30 of the contest, and not allow Molloy to come within more than seven as they would go on to win the game, 60-51.
Top Performances
	- Senior Trinity Hudson paced the Lions with 13 points and eight rebounds, snapping her seven-game double-double streak.
- Muller tallied 12 points.
- Sanchez and Moore added eight points and three rebounds each.
