Women's Bowling Appears at the Northeast Classic

Wilmington, Del. – Bowling against some of the top programs in the country, the Molloy women's bowling team participated at the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart University. The Lions finished 23rd overall, with a record of 4-9 over the course of the three-day tournament, that ran from Friday, January 19 through Sunday, January 21.
 
Day One - Baker
  • The Lions fell in the opening match to Oklahoma Christian University, but responded with a victory over UAB, 942-917, in match two. Against the Blazers, freshman Samantha Felice needed a strike on the first ball to clinch the victory and the Coram native stepped up and struck on the first ball and finished the frame with 30 pins to solidify the victory.
  • Molloy would fall in the final three matches on Friday against Nebraska, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston State, respectively to sit in 24th after the first day of the tournament.
 
Day Two – Traditional
  • The competition moved to traditional format on Saturday, with the Keglers falling in the opening match to Louisiana Tech.
  • The cardinal and white answered with a victory over Mount Aloysius College, 942-758, to move to 1-1 on the afternoon.
  • The Lions would conclude the day with three match losses to McKendree, Youngstown State, and Jacksonville State to remain in 24th after two days of action.
  • Sophomores Ashley Hardy (955) and Megan Guarascio (954) paced Molloy in traditional play, with Hardy rolling a 242 high-game and Guarascio collected a 215 high-game.
 
Day Three – Bracket Play
  • The Lions began Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Saint Francis University, propelled by a 150-60 roll off victory in which all five players struck to move into the winner's bracket.
  • Molloy would face Delaware State in the next round, but would fall, 4-2, in a close knit six-game match.
  • The cardinal and white concluded the afternoon with a 4-2 victory over Saint Francis University to come in 23rd place.
