Dobbs Ferry N.Y. - The fourth-seeded men's lacrosse team fell to the topped-ranked Mavericks of Mercy College in the East Coast Conference Semifinal this afternoon from Mercy Field, 19-9. The Lions conclude the 2023 season with a record of 9-9.
How it Happened
- The home team kicked off the contest with three-straight goals, including two from Brady Kearnan.
- Senior Sean Plasencia put Molloy on the board to conclude the opening quarter of play.
- The Mavericks would make it 4-1 before junior Jack Herzlinger scored to cut the deficit in half.
- Mercy would put together a string of five-straight goals en route to an insurmountable lead in the second quarter.Â
- Junior Chris Delaney and senior Ryan Downing would find the back of the net for Molloy to send the teams to the halftime break with Mercy in front, 10-4.
- Jack Gibbons struck first for the Mavericks to start the second half but back-to-back goals from freshman Konrad Maciejny and sophomore Patrick Dempsey brought the Lions within six, 12-6.Â
- Plasencia and junior Mikey Rodin would conclude Molloy's third quarter goals before Plasencia notched a hat trick with the lone marker for the Lions in the fourth frame.

- Delaney (one goal, two assists) and Plasencia (three goals) led the way offensively.Â
- Herzlinger added two points on a goal and an assist.
- Freshman Brandon Pazienza went 13-for-31 on face-offs and led with eight ground balls.Â
- Maciejny, senior Edward McCann IV, senior Jordan Arbouet and freshman Thomas Kofod each picked up three.Â
- Six members of the cardinal and white forced a turnover.
- Sophomore goalie Christian Michaels made 14 saves in net.
