Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Molloy baseball team stepped out of conference play Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Setters of Pace University, 10-5, at Peter X. Finnerty Field. The Lions improved to 25-13 with the win, while the Setters moved to 24-9.
How it Happened
- Pace jumped out to a 2-0 lead following runs in the second and third inning.
- The Lions got a run back in the fourth following a run scoring double play to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
- The Setters reclaimed its two-run lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the fourth on the back of an RBI double.
- Molloy compiled a three run top of the fifth, junior Gavin McAlonie doubled to left center to score two runs and junior Anthony Manisero singled home a run to put the Lions in front, 4-3.
- The cardinal and white continued to see the ball well in the sixth, rallying for four runs in the frame. Junior Matt Yip found the gap for a run scoring double, graduate student Robby Keane drove in two runs with a single up the middle, and McAlonie recorded a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to five, 8-3, after six innings.
- Molloy added two runs of insurance in the eighth inning, junior Garrett Scavelli collected an RBI double and another run scored following an error to keep the Lions ahead, 10-3.
- Pace tallied two runs in the ninth inning, but the Lions would close out the game victorius, 10-5.

- Keane totaled three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs.

- Junior Aidan Larkin collected three hits.
- Graduate student Robert Lucano started the contest pitching four innings allowing seven hits, three runs, two earned, and struck out one.
