Staten Island, N.Y. - Led by a new single-game program record seven RBI from senior
Steph Conrade, the softball team completed a season sweep of the College of Staten Island, improving to 23-12 on the season and 10-1 in East Coast Conference play.
Game One: Molloy 12, Staten Island 1
- A single from graduate student Amanda King, fielder's choice from sophomore Cheralyn Dusharme, and hit by pitch from freshman Emily McGurk loaded the bases for Conrade in the second inning. The center fielder sent the ball up the middle, plating the first two runs of the contest.
- The Dolphins loaded the bases in the home half of the inning, but King forced a double play to end the inning and keep any runs from scoring.
- A leadoff walk to junior Katie Hand and a single from Dusharme had runners in place for a bases-clearning triple from McGurk, who would later score on a wild pitch to put Molloy in front, 5-0, after four innings.
- Freshman Mae Savage drew a walk to start the fifth inning before King picked up her second hit of the afternoon. Savage scored from second on a single up the middle from McGurk to make it 6-0.
- Conrade plated two runs with a single to left field to increase the lead to eight.
- CSI loaded the bases with a double, walk, and single before scoring a run on a fielder's choice in the fifth to keep the game alive.
- A single to Hand, walk to sophomore Natalie Moussa, and fielding error by the second baseman loaded the bases for Conrade, who set the RBI record with her second career triple.
- An outfield single from graduate student Alex Burns rounded out the game's scoring at 12-1 in the seventh.
- Conrade went 4-for-5 on the afternoon to lead the Lions.
- McGurk drove in a career-high three runs in a 2-for-3 day at the plate to go with three runs cored and a stolen base.
- Burns, Hand, and King each tallied two hits.
- King struck out three in her 10th victory of the season. Moussa sat down two in two innings of relief.
Game Two: Molloy 5, Staten Island 4
- The Dolphins were first on the board in the second game on a three-run home run from Aileen Balderas.
- McGurk put Molloy on the board in the fourth with an RBI single up the middle to score senior Karsyn Eaton from second base.
- A double down the left field line from King would bring the Lions within one.
- Walks from Hand and Savage loaded the bases before King scored on a wild pitch to knot the score.
- Staten Island regained its lead in the home half of the fourth with an RBI single from Avery Mochrie.
- A double from senior Emma Bachman in the sixth inning would bring the visitors within one before Conrade gave Molloy its first lead of the contest, 5-4.
- Moussa would allow just one hit through the final two innings to improve to 5-3 on the season. The reliever allowed one run on nine hits while striking out three.
- Junior Brianna Macias struck out two in the start.
- Eaton led the Lions with a 2-for-3 day with a double, a walk, and a run scored.
- Seven of Molloy's nine batters recorded a hit with Conrade and Savage each stealing a base.
