Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 71-48, Saturday afternoon inside Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions conclude the season with a 5-20 overall record and 4-12 in East Coast Conference play, while the Spartans improve to 20-7 overall and 12-4 in league play.
How it Happened
- The Spartans opened the contest with an 8-0 rally in the early minutes.
- A three-point basket from sophomore Janel Moore and a layup from junior Trinity Hudson brought the Lions within three, 8-5, 3:35 into the contest.
- STAC concluded the quarter with a 11-0 run to take a 19-5 lead into the second stanza.
- Sophomore Samantha Muller drained a three-pointer and Hudson netted a layup to cut the deficit to 11, 21-10, 1:09 into the second quarter.
- The road team collected its second 11-0 run to take a commanding 32-10 lead with under five minutes to play in the first half.
- The Lions concluded the second stanza with a 10-2 run, highlighted by Muller who netted eight points. Molloy trailed, 34-20, going into halftime.
- After trading baskets to begin the second half, the cardinal and white put together a 10-1 run to cut the deficit to seven, 41-34, with 5:45 to play in the third quarter.
- Molloy was outscored 16-6 for the remainder of the quarter falling behind, 57-40, heading into the final quarter.
- The home team began the final stanza with a 6-0 run to come within 11, 57-46, but that is as close as they would come as STAC would go on the close out the victory, 71-48.
- The team honored graduate student Nora Gabel in a pre-game senior day ceremony.

- Muller scored a game-high 15 points while bringing down six rebounds and swiping two steals.
- Hudson netted 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
