Morehead City, N.C. – Propelled by 12 hits from nine different players, the Molloy baseball team defeated the Greyhounds of Assumption University, 10-2, Sunday morning at Big Rock Stadium. The Lions improve to 3-0, while the Greyhounds move to 1-2.
How it Happened
- Junior Aidan Larkin scored sophomore JJ DeVito with a ground out to give the Lions a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Lions hung four runs on the Greyhounds in the top of the second. Devito singled to score junior Chris Giardino, junior Chris Einemann drove in a pair of runners with a single, and Larkin hit a sacrifice fly to push Molloy in front, 5-0.
- The cardinal and white continued to stay hot at the plate, adding three runs in the top of the third. A pair of RBI singles from freshman Jack Coogan and Devito, and a sacrifice fly from senior Robby Keane gave the Lions a commanding 8-0 advantage.
- Assumption added a run in the third and fourth inning to close the gap to six, 8-2, after four complete innings.
- In the sixth, junior Matt Yip doubled to score Larkin to increase the lead, 9-2.
- In the final inning, freshman Sean Serrano doubled to score Yip to score the final run of the game as Molloy would go on to win, 10-2.

- Devito, Einemann, and Larkin drove in two runs apiece.
- Giardino totaled two hits and two runs scored.
- Graduate student Mike Andreoli pitched four innings allowing two runs, on three hits, struck out three to collect his first win of the campaign.
- Sophomore JC Kiss threw four innings and allowed two hits.
- Graduate student Christopher Wiercinski tossed the final frame collecting two strikeouts.
