The Molloy University Dance Team journeyed to Orlando, Florida to compete in the annual Universal Dance Association National competition for the second time in the program's history. Held at the ESPN World of Sports at Walt Disney World, the Lions competed in the open pom category against Division II and III teams. Ultimately, the squad finished in 11th place.
"Attending UDA Nationals had been a dream of mine since I was in middle school," commented freshman
Sabrina Cusumano. "Getting to perform on that stage with my teammates has been the best and most rewarding experience. We pushed ourselves to limits we didn't think possible and we did it together. This has only made us stronger as a team and motivate us for the upcoming season."
Leading up to the trip, the team worked with coaches
Katie Moltz and
Jessica Gaimaro as well as choreographer Brooke to bring together the routine that can be seen below:
"My first ever UDA experience was one that I will truly never forget," added sophomore
Marissa Anselmo. "Coming in 11th and being less than two points away from the finals will only push myself and the team to work harder and come back stronger next year."
The dance and cheerleading teams' performances can be seen at halftime of each men's and women's basketball games in Quealy Gymnasium.
