Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Mavericks of Mercy College, 52-46, Wednesday evening inside Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions move to 3-14 overall and 2-6 in ECC play, while the Mavericks improve to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in league play.
How it Happened
- The two teams traded baskets to begin the contest, with Mercy holding a 5-4 lead 2:35 into action.
- Molloy took the lead, 13-5, following a 9-0 rally highlighted by freshman Rosa Rizzitelli who netted five points. Molloy led 13-10 after one quarter of play.
- The road team started the second stanza quickly, clinging to a 13-2 run to retake the lead, 23-15 midway through the quarter.
- Mercy pulled ahead, 28-19, with 2:16 remaining in the half, but a layup from sophomore Janel Moore brought Molloy within seven, 28-21, heading into halftime.
- The Lions opened the third quarter with five points in 52 seconds to cut the deficit to two, 28-26.
- The Mavericks responded with a 9-0 run to regain a double-digit lead, 37-26, with 2:45 remaining in the third stanza.
- A three-point field goal from sophomore Samantha Muller shrunk the deficit to eight, 37-29, with just over two minutes to play in the quarter. The Lions trailed, 41-31, going into the fourth quarter.
- Mercy opened up its largest lead of the contest, 49-33, following a 8-2 run with 5:51 to play.
- The Cardinal and White responded with an 11-2 run, with baskets from junior Trinity Hudson, graduate student Nora Gabel, James, and Domond to cut the deficit down to seven, 51-44, with 39 seconds on the clock.
- Mercy would go on to solidify the win, 52-46.

- Domond paced the team with 11 points, two assists, and two steals while shooting three-of-three from the foul line.
- Muller and James tallied seven points apiece.
- Hudson netted six points, brought down a game-high 16 rebounds while adding three blocks and two steals.
