Sparkill, N.Y. – The third-seeded Molloy softball team fell to the second-seeded Bridgeport Purple Knights, 2-0, in the ECC Final Sunday morning at Spartan Field. The Lions finished 24-33 on the season.
How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, the Purple Knights jumped out to a, 2-0, lead following a two RBI single in the bottom of the second.
- Graduate student Courtney Greene and Bridgeport starting pitcher Katie Burawski matched each other pitch-for-pitch, as neither team was able to put together any rallies through five innings of play.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Purple Knights had runners on first and second looking to extend the lead, but Greene denied Bridgeport from scoring, striking out Missy Daigneault to end the sixth inning with the score, 2-0.
- Molloy put three runners on base in the top of the seventh, junior Karsyn Eaton and freshman Natalie Moussa collected back-to-back singles to give the Lions a pair of base runners, two batters later freshman Cheralyn Dusharme walked to load the bases with two away, but Bridgeport held firm as they prevented the Lions from scoring to end the contest, 2-0.

- Junior Steph Conrade and Eaton collected two hits apiece.
- Greene pitched a complete game gave up eight hits, two runs, and two strikeouts.
