Fairfield, Conn. – The third-seeded Molloy softball team fell to the second-seeded Bridgeport Purple Knights, 7-3, Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer Park in the first game of the ECC championship.
How it Happened
- Bridgeport took a 1-0 in the bottom of the first following an RBI single.
- The home team extended its lead to 2-0 in the second after Meg McFarland singled home a run.
- The Purple Knights put together a five-run bottom of the fourth to open the lead to 7-0.
- Molloy broke through in the top of the sixth, senior Amanda King doubled into right field that scored senior Alex Burns and freshman Amanda Cerretani. The Lions trailed, 7-2, after six innings of play.
- In the top of the seventh, junior Karsyn Eaton blasted a solo home run over the left field fence, but the Lions comeback would end there, as Bridgeport closed the game with the win, 7-3.

- Eaton hit her fourth home run of the season.
- Junior Steph Conrade totaled two hits.
