Rindge, N.H. – The second-seeded Molloy baseball team fell to the top-seeded Southern New Hampshire Penmen, 7-3, Sunday afternoon at Pappas Field in game three of the NCAA East Super Regional. The Lions finish their historic season with an overall record of 40-15.
How it Happened
- Southern New Hampshire scored a run in the bottom of the first off a fielders choice to take a 1-0 lead.
- In the top of the third, the Lions struck for two runs, senior Vincent Pecora brought sophomore Chris Einemann home with a sacrifice fly, and senior Robby Keane scored following a throwing error to push Molloy ahead, 2-1, after three innings of action.
- The Penmen responded in the fourth, an RBI single, RBI double, and a run scoring off a throwing error pushed the home team ahead, 4-2.
- A two-run home run from Southern New Hampshire third basemen Cristian Mercedes extended the lead to, 6-2, in the bottom of the fifth.
- Two innings later, the Penmen reached its largest lead, 7-2, following a solo home run from Sam Henrie.
- The Lions cut the deficit to four, 7-3, after graduate student Matt Overton recorded an RBI ground out in the top of the eighth.
