North Canton, Ohio- The Molloy men's lacrosse team topped the Walsh Cavaliers, 12-6, Saturday afternoon Larry Staudt Field. The Lions improved to 2-2, while the Cavaliers fell to 0-2.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Chris Delaney put the Lions ahead 1-0 with 12:44 left in the opening stanza.
- After Walsh knotted the score at one, junior Sean Plasencia found the back of the net, and Molloy led 2-1 at the end of the first frame.
- The maroon and white had a 2-1 advantage at the half.
- Junior Ryan Downing gave Molloy a 3-1 lead.
- Ahead 3-2, senior Brian Ford and Downing scored to extend the advantage to 5-2.
- Plasencia added a goal, and the Lions led 6-4 at the end of the third quarter.
- The maroon and white tallied five consecutive goals, led by three from Downing, to make it 11-4.
- Graduate student Jack Egan found the back of the net to give the Lions a 12-6 advantage.
Top Performances
- Downing netted a team-high seven points (five goals and two assists).
- Ford and Plasencia tallied two goals each.
- Sophomore Mikey Rodin recorded three assists.
- Graduate student Sean Daly picked up five ground ball and caused one turnovers, and senior Jordan Arbouet recorded three ground ball and one caused turnover.
- Freshman Christian Michaels made 10 saves in the victory.
