Buffalo, N.Y. - The women's tennis team sent the 2022 season off on a high note, clinching a 5-2 victory over D'Youville University for Head Coach
Glenn Nathan's first win at the helm of the Lions. The win brought Molloy to 1-8 on the season and 1-4 in East Coast Conference play.
The afternoon began with a victory at first doubles for sophomore
Noor Goyvaerts and junior
Hannah Niggemeier, 6-1. The third tandem of sophomore
Amanda Oppedisano and freshman
Katie Vaseghi also picked up a 6-1 victory to clinch the doubles point before freshman
Jill Cafaro and senior
Brooke Williams took a 6-4 victory in second doubles.Â
Niggemeier had her second-straight 2-0 day with a victory over Paola Ermina at third singles, 6-0, 6-3. Williams picked up her first singles win of the season at fourth singles over Julia Clapper, 6-2, 6-1. Oppedisano won her second-straight singles contest at fifth singles, topping Katelyn Hoover 6-0, 6-2. The match was decided at first singles as Goyvaerts defeated Yuliia Kashtelian 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.Â
