Rochester, N.Y. – The #3 women's lacrosse team fell to #2 Roberts Wesleyan this evening, 15-7, in the East Coast Conference semifinal. Molloy finished the year 4-7 (3-2 ECC) while the Redhawks improved to 12-1 (6-1 ECC) and will face #1 Mercy this weekend to determine the league's champion.
How It Happened
- The Redhawks wasted no time getting started, finding the back of the net 56 seconds into the game.
- Molloy answered with two goals of their own, as junior Abbie Bellport knotted the game up at one just 94 seconds later.
- The maroon and white took a 2-1 lead when sophomore Haille Ross scored with 17:48 remaining in the first half.
- Roberts Wesleyan went on a 4-0 scoring run over the next 12 minutes of game time.
- Sophomore Amanda Weber capped the opening stanza with a goal of her own which trimmed the Redhawk's lead to two. The home team led 5-3 at the half.
- The Lions kicked off the second half with a goal from junior Lucy Emptage that brought the maroon and white within one.
- The one goal lead was short lived, as the home team re-took the two-goal advantage 36 seconds later.
- Molloy continued to stay close, when graduate student Nora Miller found the back of the net with 26:23 remaining in the game. The Lions trailed 6-5.
- Roberts Wesleyan went on a second 4-0 scoring run over the next 14 minutes of game time, extending the lead to 10-5.
- Ross halted the scoring run, netting her second goal of the game to bring the Lions within four.
- Senior Amanda Reyes scored with 9:29 remaining, as the Lions trailed 11-7.
- The Redhawks concluded the game on their third 4-0 scoring run, ending the game 15-7 victors.

- Ross led the Lions with three points (two goals, one assist).
- Miller, Weber, and Reyes each tallied two points on one goal and one assist a piece.
- Freshman Ryan Smith picked up a game-high four ground balls.
- Freshman Mary-Kate Sweeney made nine saves in goal.
