Weber Nets Five in Women's Lacrosse Loss at Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. – The women's lacrosse team fell to #20 Roberts Wesleyan College, 16-9. The Lions fall to 2-5 (1-1 ECC) in the loss while the Redhawks improved to a perfect 9-0 (5-0 ECC).

How it Happened

  • Each team exchanged punches out of the gate with Roberts Wesleyan scoring the first three goals of the game, but Molloy got two goals back with gradate student midfielder Amanda Reyes and junior attacker Megan Schiaffo finding the back of the net to make it 3-2 just under 15 minutes left in the first half.
  • The Redhawks nabbed two more goals before another goal from Reyes made it 5-3. The home team scored three more goals before the half ended to make it 7-3 at the break.
  • Molloy started the second half with a bang, scoring four of the first five goals courtesy of a sophomore midfielder Amanda Weber hat-trick and junior midfielder Abbie Bellport on the woman up situation to put pressure on the #20 ranked team in the nation at 9-7.
  • Webber scored two more goals, but the Redhawks took control the rest of the second half and made sure to keep the maroon and white at bay to hold onto the 19-7 victory and remain undefeated.

Key Performers

  • Weber had one of her best games of the season with a five-goal performance with Reyes, Schiaffo, and Bellport each finding the back of the net.
  • Weber dominated with draw controls as well, winning a team-leading six in the contest with freshman defender Ryan Smith second on the team with five.
