Women's Bowling Finishes Second at Bears Classic

Oakland, N.J. - The women's bowling team returned to action today at the Bears Classic, hosted by Bloomfield College, finishing second overall after going 3-2 on the afternoon.

The tournament began with the Lions facing off against Felician University, with each of Molloy's five bowlers topping 200 pins en route to a 1029-987 victory, the highest team total of the season to date for the Lions. Junior Colleen Kingsepp led the maroon and white with 218 pins followed by 205 from senior Mackenzie Wagner, 204 from sophomore Amanda Scarfogliero, and juniors Goldera Surles and Amanda Kreush each adding games of 202.

Despite 220 pins from Wagner, Molloy fell to the host Bears, 993-862, before rebounding with an 857-803 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College.

The tournament changed to a best-four-of-seven Baker format semi-final. The Lions ranked second, facing off against Bloomfield once again. Tied 3-3, Molloy took the seventh and deciding game, 193-151, to advance to the finals. The maroon and white fell to a dominant first-place Felician University, 4-0.

Molloy now sits at 6-7 on the season headed into the East Coast Conference Championship, hosted by the Lions on Friday (Feb. 26) at Bowlero in Mineola, N.Y.
