Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The #2 Molloy women's soccer team fell to the #6 Mercy Mavericks, 1-0, in the NCAA East Regional Semifinal at John A. Darcy Field Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished the season 18-3, while Mercy improved to 12-4-4.
How it Happened
- Senior Sabrina Bell sent a shot over the net in the third minute.
- In the 14th and 18th minutes, junior Joanna Graca made runs and had tries stopped by Mercy keeper Melissa Torres.
- In the 41st minute, senior Jackie Carty tipped a shot from Claudia McKail over the crossbar.
- Molloy outshot Mercy 7-6 in the first half, and the match was scoreless.
- Carty, who made eight saves denied a one-on-one opportunity from Nikki Bermudez.
- McKail put the Mavericks ahead 1-0 in the 51st minute.
- Graca had an opportunity denied by Torres in the 78th minute.
- In the 89th minute, there was a scramble in the box, but Torres denied the touch from sophomore Eleni Sofroniou.
