East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the 2019 campaign, defeating East Stroudsburg University, 7-0. This is Molloy's first shutout since the 2016 season where the Lions topped Division III Albertus Magnus College.
Despite only needing to take two out of the three doubles matches to earn the point, the maroon and white were victorious on all three courts. The top pairing of junior

Hannah Niggemeier earned a 6-1 victory while freshman
Kailey Chin and senior
Montaine Le Goupil-Maier won their match at second doubles, 6-3. Senior
Samantha Bloecker and sophomore
Briana Gonzalez rounded out the doubles wins by a score of 6-4.
Moehrlein (6-2, 6-2) and Chin (6-2, 6-4) each picked up their first singles victories in maroon and white at first and third singles, respectively. Le Goupil-Maier (6-0, 6-1), Niggemeier (6-2, 6-0), Gonzalez (6-1, 6-2), and Bloecker (8-1) rounded out the scores for the Lions.

Brendan Caputo. "Each player remained focused on their court and supported each other each step of the way."
The Lions return to East Coast Conference play on Saturday (Sept. 21) at Queens College at 2:00 p.m.
