Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Mercy Mavericks, 1-0, Monday evening at Mitchel Field. The Lions finished the season 17-27 overall and 14-14 in ECC play.
How it Happened
- Senior Nick Marino hit a sacrifice fly in the first, which scored junior James Messina and put the Lions up 1-0.
- Mercy had runners on first and third in the eighth with two outs, but sophomore Billy Wildeman got Anthony Murphy to fly out to end the inning.
Top Performances
- Messina tallied two hits and scored one run.
- Junior Jake Saltzman, Marino, sophomore Jake McCarthy, and senior Ryan Hensley all collected one hit.
- Wildeman threw a complete game shutout and struck out nine batters to improve to 3-3 on the season.
