Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The softball season came to an end this afternoon in losses to the University of Bridgeport in the final doubleheader of the season. Molloy concludes the 2019 season at 17-34 and 7-15 in East Coast Conference play.
Game 1: Bridgeport 1, Molloy 0
- UB's run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Kaira Ramon.Â
- The Lions'Â best scoring chance came in the second inning after walks to senior Tara Byrnes and freshman Marissa Nicoletti followed by a single by freshman Lauren Ramos loaded the bases with one out.Â
- The maroon and white out-hit the Purple Knights, 4-3, on the afternoon on hits from Ramos, freshmen Alex Burns and Amanda King, and sophomore Courtney Greene.
- Greene tossed a complete game in the circle, striking out four batters.
Game 2: Bridgeport 5, Molloy 4
- The game remained scoreless through three and a half innings.
- The maroon and white struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning. A triple from Nicoletti set up Byrnes for her first career home-run, giving the home team a 2-0 lead.
- A double from Ramos set the table for an RBI single for freshman Angelique Serrano to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.
- UB cut the deficit to two runs in the top of the fifth with a solo home run by Stephanie Dean.
- The Lions plated a fourth run in the sixth inning on a single from Serrano.
- A two-run home run from Allison Luzzi brought the visitors within one in the top of the seventh before tying the game with an RBI double from Ramon.
- UB took the lead in the next at bat on an RBI single from Jenna DiLorenzo.
- The maroon and white were sent down in order in the home half of the inning, giving Bridgeport the win.
- Serrano led with two hits on the afternoon. King, Nicoletti, Ramos, Byrnes, and freshman Alex Burns added hits.
- Senior Jenna Turato tossed a complete game in the loss, striking out two batter.
