Men's Lacrosse Ends Season with Senior Day Victory over UDC, 19-10

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team concluded the 2019 season with a definitive 19-10 victory over the University of the District of Columbia this afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. Molloy ends the season with a record of 7-8 overall and a 3-3 East Coast Conference clip. 

How it Happened
  • Molloy scored the first goal of the contest, but fell behind 2-1 with just under two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
  • Back-to-back goals from junior Kevin Pastier and senior Mike Durkin in the final 68 seconds gave the Lions a 3-2 advantage after 15 minutes of play.
  • Senior Michael Scheuerer netted the first goal of the second stanza, but the Firebirds responded with three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead.
  • The maroon and white ended the opening half of play with three goals, however, including two from Pastier, to take a 7-5 lead into the break.
  • Molloy's streak continued with goals from Scheuerer and freshman Brian Ford to open the third quarter.
  • UDC would come within three, 9-6, to break the Lions' streak, but Molloy responded with three more goals. The quarter would end with the home team leading, 13-7.
  • The Firebirds scored to open the fourth frame, but the next five markers belonged to the maroon and white to take a 19-8 lead. 
  • UDC netted two goals in the final 2:30 to come within nine, 19-10.

Top Performances
  • Molloy saw nine different goal scorers in the effort and was led by five from Pastier and three from junior Colin Kotarski.
  • Scheuerer, Durkin, Ford, and junior Travis Cooksey each added two goals while senior Justin English, sophomore Jack Egan, and junior Andrew Chu each found the back of the net as well.
  • Junior Anthony Teresky led with five assists for the maroon and white while freshman Robert Lopez dished out one of his own.
  • English went 18-of-25 at the face-off dot, leading the team with 13 ground balls. 
  • Durkin matched a career-high five caused turnovers while adding seven ground balls. 
  • Sophomore Michael Kessler made 10 saves in net.
