Women's Bowling Hosts Annual Tournaments; Places Second in Baker Challenge

East Meadow, N.Y. - The women's bowling program hosted the annual Molloy Invitiational and Molloy Baker Challenge this weekend at East Meadow Lanes. The maroon and white went 4-1 this afternoon, knocking down a total of 4,544 pins for second-place. Yesterday, Molloy went 3-2 and tallied 4,166 pins for sixth-place. 

How it Happened - Molloy Invitational
  • Molloy lost its first match of the day to Caldwell Univeristy, 948-844, but responded with an 832-621 defeat of Saint Thomas Aquinas College. 
  • With the contest tied after four games against Medaille, the Lions fired off a fifth game of 187 to earn an 842-814 victory. 
  • The maroon and white saw another close contest headed into the final game, with just 18 points separating Molloy from New Jersey City University. The team answered the call, however, with a 201 game to take the contest 838-792.
  • Despite a close first game, the Bears of Kutztown handed the Lions a 906-810 defeat to end the tournament. 
  • In junior varsity action, freshmen Goldera Surles, Colleen Kingsepp, and Amanda Kreush were named to the All-Tournament team. 

How it Happened - Baker Challenge
  • The day began against the Mavericks of Medaille College. Despite trailing early, the Lions started off strong with an 858-748 victory. 
  • The maroon and white fell to eventual tournament champions, Caldwell University, 1025-898 before putting forth a strong 908-831 showing over the Bears of Kutztown University.
  • The day ended with a sweep of LIU Post, 915-872, and New Jersey City University, 965-736.
  • On the performance, the Lions averaged 181.0 and improved to 40-26 on the season.
  • Junior Jennifer Bisogno was named to the All-Tournament team with an 18.83 fill fame average while Kingsepp was crowned the junior varsity all-around champion.

Molloy returns to action on March 8 at the ISC Sectionals followed by the ITC Sectionals March 9-10 in Stratford, N.J.
