Flushing, N.Y. - The women's tennis team was defeated, 4-0, by Queens College in the semifinal round of the East Coast Conference Tournament. This was Molloy's first appearance in the playoffs since the 2012 season. The Lions end the 2019 season with a record of 4-6.
How it Happened
- Senior Samantha Bloecker and sophomore Briana Gonzalez were defeated by a score of 6-1 at #3 doubles. Despite winning two games, the tandem of freshman Kailey Chin and senior Montaine Le Goupil-Maier were downed, 6-2, to seal the doubles point in favor of the Knights.
- Junior Sarah Moehrlein and freshman Hannah Niggemeier played to a 5-2 contest at #1 doubles in an unfinished match once the doubles point was decided.
- Tournament rules state that once enough points are earned to decide the match, all other contests are stopped. Queens was victorious at #1 singles (6-0, 6-1), #4 singles (6-0,6-0) and #5 singles (6-1,6-0) to advance to tomorrow's championship match.
- Niggemeier was up, 5-4, in her unfinished #3 singles contest.

Brendan Caputo. "We knew that we were up against a powerhouse opponent in Queens today, but we stayed united, which is what this season has been about. Coach Nikki and I are so proud of the accomplishment of making the semis and we are confident that we will continue to build on this success and team unity."
